How to prove your NIE when identifying with a Passport

If you are in the process of obtaining your Digital Certificate with us and have chosen the video-identification option using your passport of origin, we may have requested additional documentation.
Why does this happen? If you need your digital certificate to be issued with your NIE (Foreigner Identity Number), legal regulations require us to strictly verify that this NIE belongs to you. Since you are not using a Spanish identity document (such as a TIE) in the video, we need a complementary document.
Below, we explain exactly which document you must send us depending on your situation, so that we can approve your certificate in record time.
1. If your NIE is new or being processed (NIE Assignment)
If you have recently been assigned your NIE number but still do not have a physical card (TIE) or it is in the process of being issued, we need to verify the official resolution.
Which document should you send us?
You need to attach the official NIE Assignment document (issued by the General Directorate of the Police or the Immigration Office).
For this document to be valid for us, it must include a Secure Verification Code (CSV) or a web locator. This is a code printed on the page itself (usually on the side or at the bottom of the page) that allows us to verify on the Government's electronic headquarters that the document is authentic.
Where can you get this document?
It is the receipt that is given or sent to you electronically by the Administration (National Police or Immigration) at the moment your foreigner identity number is officially approved and assigned. If you applied online, you can download it from the Electronic Headquarters where you made the request.

2. If you are a European Union Citizen (CUE)
If you are a citizen of a member country of the European Union and reside in Spain, you do not have a photo TIE card, but rather a green paper (or cardboard) certificate.
Which document should you send us?
You must send us a clear photo of your Certificate of Registration as a Citizen of the European Union (popularly known as the "green NIE" or "green sheet").
For our team of operators to validate your identity correctly, it is essential that the Support Number (Número de Soporte) can be read with total clarity in the photo. With this number, our system can connect securely and verify the validity of your NIE.
Where is the Support Number?
On the folio-sized green sheet: It is usually in the upper right corner.
On the small green card: It is usually found on the back, in the lower right corner.
